While the best person to be training your dog is you, it's hard to know
where to begin, and how to begin. And dogs, self-serving creatures that they
are, often train us to do what they want before we realize it. When that
happens, and the dog/owner relationship gets out of whack, it's wise to take
action. Luckily, training is easy once you understand a little bit about how
dogs learn and you apply those laws of learning to interactions with your
dog.
Gayle Amorose, owner of Romp & Rastle, is dedicated to helping people build
a better relationship with their dog through training. She holds a
Certificate in Training & Counseling from the San Francisco SPCA's Academy
for Dog Trainers, where she studied under Jean Donaldson (author of The
Culture Clash, and Dogs are from Neptune). As a member of the Association of
Pet Dog Trainers, Gayle is an advocate for positive reinforcement techniques
in all aspects of animal training.

likes to teach tricks to Dakota, a Golden Retriever/German Shepherd mix
adopted from the Oregon Humane Society.
